KUALA LUMPUR: PAS is confident that its Sabah-born state secretary, Dr Aliakbar Gulasan, can contribute effectively as a representative of Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the Sabah government under Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).
In a statement today, PAS secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan said the Islamic party is grateful to the presidents of Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) and Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) for giving Aliakbar an opportunity to serve the people by appointing him to the Sabah state Cabinet.
He said PAS feels the main concern for GRS now is to regain the confidence of the people by effectively addressing current pressing issues, including the Covid-19 pandemic and the battered economy.
"PAS believes that as a responsible and committed member of the government, all parties must accept and respect their differences in terms of race, ethnicity, religion, culture and tradition, to pave a way towards building a harmonious country," he said.
