Over 15,000 job placements under Penjana HRDF

The government’s Penjana HRDF initiative launched on June 22 has managed to get some 15,215 job seekers employed.

Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri M Saravanan (picture) said the project, which was spearheaded by Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF) on the heels of the Short-term Economic Recovery Plan (Penjana), had formulated five schemes to address issues related to job placement and training.

The initiative was introduced in the wake of Covid-19’s economic impact, which led to massive job losses.

Among the schemes are Place and Train; Upskilling and Reskilling; and Gerak Insan Gemilang (GIG).

“Place and Train guarantees job placement within 12 months upon completion of the training, while GIG will allow the trainees to venture and generate income in the gig economy,” Saravanan said at the Penjana HRDF Initiative launch in Kuala Lumpur today.

As of August, the Penjana HRDF programme had received 9,239 proposals with 2,548 employers offering job placements, and 2,525 training providers are expected to train up to 244,207 trainees.

“Today, 50 of them will receive the offer letter of employment, and will start training under the Penjana HRDF before reporting for duty with their respective employers,” Saravanan said, adding that the remaining 15,000 trainees will be called up soon. - themalaysianreserve.com
