On 29th January 2018, Malaysia Today wrote: Azmin’s secret pact with PAS Selangor (READ HERE). In that article, we said, “If PAS Selangor engages in three-corner contests with Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan, the losers are going to be PKR, PPBM and PAN while DAP will benefit. Against the backdrop of three-corner contests, DAP is going to end up with the most number of seats in Selangor and Azmin is going to lose his job. So, it is crucial that Azmin makes this secret pact with PAS Selangor so that PKR and not DAP will end up with the most number of seats in Selangor.”
Today, Joceline Tan wrote: The knives are out for Azmin (READ HERE). In that article, Joceline said, “They are resentful that Azmin seems more “in love” with PAS than with Amanah, and are now demanding that he takes a stand on Selangor seats. They also suspect that Azmin is negotiating with PAS behind the scenes and it is no secret that its Paya Jaras assemblyman Mohd Khairuddin Othman has one foot in PKR and the other in the Islamist party.”
Joceline further said, “Some of the Selangor Pakatan leaders have also approached Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to get him to assert his clout over Selangor. Amanah’s aggressiveness is also seen as having the backing of DAP. Selangor DAP chairman Tony Pua and Azmin are barely talking and it is no secret that DAP would prefer someone else as Menteri Besar after GE14.”
In short, DAP is going to decide who the next Selangor Menteri Besar is going to be and it is not going to be Azmin Ali but someone from PAN a.k.a. Amanah. It is too early for DAP themselves to take the Menteri Besar’s post at this stage. Later on that may be possible. Hence, stage one has to be the Selangor Menteri Besar will be DAP’s proxy, which means from PAN, and in stage two DAP will take the Menteri Besar’s post themselves.
DAP has asked Ronnie Liu to lead the charge against Azmin Ali
In case some of you may have forgotten, DAP never wanted Azmin as the Menteri Besar in the first place. DAP and PKR both nominated Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as the Menteri Besar. However, HRH the Sultan of Selangor insisted that Pakatan Rakyat propose three names and the letters proposing just one name, Wan Azizah, were rejected.
The PAS President, Abdul Hadi Awang, then sent in a new letter proposing three names, one of those names Azmin Ali, and the Sultan agreed to Azmin as the new Selangor Menteri Besar to replace Khalid Ibrahim.
Lim Kit Siang was so angry with Hadi that he announced Pakatan Rakyat had been closed down and no longer exists. The pro-DAP faction in PAS then left the party and set up a new party called PAN, after which Kit Siang set up Pakatan Harapan and invited PAN to join them as a coalition member.
Azmin’s term as the Selangor Menteri Besar will end in another few months and after GE14 the new Menteri Besar will be from PAN
And all this brouhaha was because Azmin instead of Wan Azizah was made the Selangor Menteri Besar. So, the damage that was caused when Azmin became Menteri Besar was not only to trigger the break-up of PAS but it also caused the death of Pakatan Rakyat. And Kit Siang has never forgiven Hadi until today for making Azmin the Menteri Besar.
Basically, this is unfinished business for Kit Siang. Initially, DAP tried to go against the Sultan and protest the Sultan’s ‘interference’ in making Azmin the Menteri Besar. But the Sultan of Selangor is no pushover. If you try to cabar HRH, he will not back down and will face you head on. Realising that he is walking into very dangerous territory, Kit Siang backed off and decided he will wait for another day to finish off Azmin.
And that day is today. DAP and PAN are going all out to attack Azmin and make sure he will not be continuing as the Selangor Menteri Besar after the next general election. The next Selangor Menteri Besar will be someone Kit Siang and DAP can control, someone from PAN. DAP has discovered that Khalid Ibrahim and Azmin Ali, both from PKR, cannot be controlled. Hence it must no longer be a Menteri Besar from PKR.
This happened in Perak in 2008. DAP, that had the most number of seats in the Perak State Assembly, decided who should be the Perak Menteri Besar. And they chose someone from PAS (now PAN), Nizar Jamaluddin, even though PAS had the least number of seats in the Perak State Assembly.
Nizar Jamaluddin from PAN was DAP’s proxy as the Menteri Besar of Perak and he rewarded DAP by converting a lot of TOL land into freehold
In the few months that Nizar was the Menteri Besar, he converted a vast area of TOL land into freehold land. TOL land means the land belongs to the government and the occupiers of the land need to renew their lease every year and it may or may not be renewed. Freehold land means you own the land.
This was Nizar’s way of repaying DAP for making him the Menteri Besar because TOL land was mainly occupied by Chinese. Unfortunately, Nizar was ousted just a year in office or else every single piece of TOL land in Perak would have been converted to freehold land by now. Then Perak would really be Chinese-owned in more ways than one.
In Selangor, Khalid did the opposite. What many people did not know is Khalid converted vast areas of Selangor State land into Malay Reserve Land or KRM (Kawasan Reserve Melayu). While in Perak, government land was being transferred to the Chinese, in Selangor, government land was being transferred to the Malays.
Khalid Ibrahim converted a lot of Selangor State land into KRM land and this made DAP very unhappy
Most Malaysians are not aware of this because this issue is too racial to make public. And that was why when Anwar Ibrahim wanted to replace Nizar with a Menteri Besar from PKR, DAP did not agree. DAP needed Nizar to continue converting TOL land to freehold land because this would make the Perak Chinese indebted to DAP. And in that same spirit, that was why DAP wanted Khalid ousted. DAP was not happy that a lot of Selangor State land was being converted to KRM land.
So, the reason why DAP wanted Nizar (now in PAN) as the Perak Menteri Besar and the reason why DAP wanted Khalid ousted as the Selangor Menteri Besar has a more sinister reason than many may realise. And that is also why DAP wants to make sure that the next Selangor Menteri Besar will be from PAN. A Menteri Besar from PAN is compliant and can be told what to do. The two Menteri Besar from PKR, Khalid and Azmin, cannot be controlled.
Then, in stage two, a DAP State Assemblyman will take over as the new Selangor Menteri Besar, unless Selangor falls back into the hands of Umno and Barisan Nasional.
