YB Dato Seri Tuan Guru Haji Abdul Hadi Awang, president of Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS) has successfully undergone a valve replacement surgery at the Institut Jantung Negara (IJN) today.
Dato Seri Abdul Hadi has been having increasing symptoms due to a leaking heart valve. This condition had affected his daily activities, as such doctors advised for a planned heart valve surgery.
Currently Dato Seri Abdul Hadi is warded at the Intensive Care Unit of the IJN where his condition will be observed for the next few days as is routine in post-heart surgery.
The next 48-hours is the crucial period in his post-operative care and he will be under close observation in Intensive Care Unit by a team of doctors and nurses.
Earlier this morning, Dato Seri Abdul Hadi underwent a-3 hour heart surgery performed by a panel of doctors led by Dato’ Seri Dr Mohd Azhari Yakub - Senior Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon and CEO of IJN and Dato’ Sri Dr Jeffrey Jeswant Dillon – Head of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Dato’ Dr Suhaini Kadiman – Deputy Head of Anaesthesiology department.
Doctors are happy that the procedure progressed as anticipated and his vital parameters thus far are stable and have advised against Dato Seri Abdul Hadi receiving any visitors with the exception of immediate family members. - ENDS
